I always love to hear from insiders and those in the know.
Am I a detailer? Yes and no. I've owned detailing businesses before but now just do it for fun and a little extra profit for a few people who can afford my rates ;-) But frankly, there are a lot of people who can do what I do.
Over the past few years I've been more interested in the "behind the scenes" action in the world of car care products. I've developed relationships with product mfrs and suppliers learning what makes waxes and polishes tick. I'm no chemist or engineer, just a serious, hard core detailing enthusiast who wants to know "the rest of the story". I test and evaluate products, write articles, hang out at online detailing forums, and basically try to help others make their cars look as good as possible. If I could only find a way to make decent money at this my life would be set forever. You'd think after 25 years of pro and amateur detailing I'd have figured this out....
I know you know this but I am always amazed at the amount of sheer BS in the car care products industry. I know Chuck by reputation and admire the company he's built but no one has come close IMO to creating what he's created, if ya get my drift. The gross margins must be staggering.
I look forward to more posts from you in this forum. Always great to converse/debate/discuss detailing topics with someone who knows what they're talking about. I'm sure fellow TSN'ers will benefit from your insights.
Best regards,
