I've been using P21S wax on my car, and I don't notice it if I get it on the trim, either. The only wax that's really been noticeable on trim is that blue Zymol cleaner wax. It dries blue on the plastic and looks horrible.
I bought some Meguiar's clear plastic polish for my Stongard. After awhile I started to notice small scratches in it, but the plastic polish took them right out.
I've never waxed the door frames or any part that's covered up. I just clean them off with a paper towel and some 409 when they get dirty.
Griot's Garage's microfiber towels are much better for buffing out wax and polish. They come in two colors and textures. One's for wax and Speed Shine type of products, and the other's for polish.
