Scammer on the hook... what next? Posted by Scott Paterson [Email] (#13) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Scott Paterson) on Tue, 24 Jun 2003 10:13:46 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I reeled in another scammer. This check is nowhere near as good a fake as the first one with the embossed signature.
So how should I proceed with this one? I am going to bring it down to Wells Fargo and speak with my account rep about it to see if he minds it going through the system if I'll pay the fees. However, the scammer really fumbled this one by spelling my name incorrectly. I could play this one in one of thre ways.
1. Fess-up. Let him know that he's been had (boring).
2. Partial fess-up. Deposit the check and tell him that... When it comes back counterfeit, tell him that too.
3. String him along and get him to give me more of the fake money. I mean, for the wrong name, I'm sure someone from Nigeria might believe that there is a $750 correction fee.
Frankly, I'm a little bored and have a lot of site work to do, so I'm thinking I go with number 2 and just make him sweat it out and plead with me to wire him the money early.
If you have no idea what I am talking about, see the link below.
