I still like Jerry Seinfeld's bit about asking the telemarketer for their home number so he can call them back later. When they say no, they're not allowed to do that, he says, I guess you don't want people calling you at home. They say no, he says now you know how I feel. Love it!

As for the do not call registry, not sure about other states, but CT has has it's own list for over a year that I know of. When I signed up on this, the called just about ceased, and those that do come through, I screen on the caller ID & answering machine. I never answer a call that doesn't list the persons name. In Oct 2003 in CT is when the FEDERAL do not call registry protection starts. So, we'll have state & federal protection. For those of you in CT, if you signed up for the state list, you dont need to sign up w/the federal list...you'll automatically be covered. ....silence is golden.....
