but the reason was inventory control. They wanted to have accurate before and after levels for the filling operation. It had nothing to do with sediment. Think about it - if sediment was an issue how long would you have to wait after the truck leaves for the sediment to settle out to below the level of the pump which is near the bottom of the tank? How would you ever know when the truck left? All pumps have filters on them to remove that. It is more likely that water condensed in the tank could be an issue in cold weather, but remember that the water is in the bottom portion since it is denser than gasoline.
