Scott, I thank you every day I am able to while away productive work hours reading through Saabnet, but I have to say this:

You are an unmitigated Saab apologist (and an otherwise fine human being!)

What good are record sales if the manufacturer (Saab) has to lose money on every car to sell them? You are well aware of the massive incentives on our Swedish iron...when Saab can sell cars the way BMW, Toyota or Honda can (without massive incentives), then we will know we are out of the danger zone.

I'm not so worried about Saab going out of business, I'm worried more that it may not remain competitive. BMW and its 5-Series can get away with a 7 year model run, based on perception of that vehicle alone. Never mind that it is among the finest sports sedans money can buy, and never mind that BMW has a far broader model lineup to help insure its financial stability.

Some of the folks on this board may be truly surprised to find out how seriously Saab takes the threat from the likes of Honda and Toyota, and even a resurgent Subaru, never mind the true luxury brands.

And yes, it is a slow Friday!
