I had always thought that Easy-Pass system would be converted into speeding tickets by the turnpike authorities as the time and distance could calculate an average speed between two points; if it was higher than the posted limit you were speeding and earned a ticket. As I recall, it turns out that legally you can't subscribe to a system that would rat you out to authorities as it treads on your right not to self incriminate. I would imagine that On Star should fall under the same rules. Now if a car was stolen, the owner could probably ask the authorities to kill the ignition.....but I'm not sure its legal for the system to be used as described. Any lawyers care to opine?
