When in for some servicing on my LS, I test drove an ION, and was really disappointed with it. Like you say... the ride is very good and it handles very nicely. Really can zing along. But the interior is from another planet. And since that's where you spend all your time, that's the most important part of the car, IMHO. Like others said (and all the reviews say)... the interior would keep me from buying what is probably a great bargain and a good reliable car.
Too bad. If they had gotten it right, they would have had a very nice, european inspired design with which to compete with Honda and Toyota. Unfortunately, instead of trying to compete, they decided to differentiate themselves and try to convince people of the intelligence of their design. Sounds like a Swedish company I know, albeit one that doesn't try to compete in the same league ;-).
