corporate world. The two times I was in grad school, I saw a lot of political manuevering, people putting in insane hours (not always by choice), and a lot of other things that are not too dissimilar to my experiences working for big corporations. So my advice would be to not go to grad school and get a PhD because you think it will automatically provide a cure from boring corporate jobs. However, going will still open up doors you wouldn't otherwise have.
I've gone once for engineering and once for an MBA. The first time I had pretty good financial aid - I think if you're a US citizen there are funds for you in a lot of the technical fields. For the MBA my company paid (any chance yours will do the same - you get intellectual stimulation and a steady paycheck, although the workload can be tough) but it seemed like there was less financial aid. Like anything, shop around.
By the way, I'm 33 and asking some of the same questions you are. I think it's healthy and helps you keep perspective on life. Work to live, not the other way around is what I've figured out so far.
Good luck!
