Go to any website offering instant car insurance quotes online and try it first without any convictions, and then with a conviction. The difference would give you an idea of a raise.
Some companies give you a break on the first speeding ticket. For example, according to my insurance policy, one minor speeding violation (3 point or less) doesn't affect the rate. The second does.
Also, I don't know about the courts in your area, but in Toronto when you come to the hearing, the first thing the prosecutor asks you after checking your name is: "Do you want to enter a plea bargain?" They would usualy offer a considerable reduction in both points and the fine. Which shows that the only thing they are interested in is the cash.
