I love the 2nd and 3rd gear rush, the boundless acceleration, the hauling capacity, the leather, the reliability (other than my horribly bent rims), and the uniqueness. But the harsh ride here on Northern Virginia roads is brutal, and highway driving over concrete expansion joints is irritating. The seatback rattle never goes away.
At age 33, I'm mellowing, as is my taste in cars.
Lack of headroom is a problem for me in the 9-3SS and especially the 9-5, and I don't think I can wait for the 9-3 sport hatch to come out at the end of *next* year. Sigh. My Saab ownership days appear to be numbered. I would get a 9-5 Aero wagon in a heartbeat if I fit in one, but my head hits the roof even in a non-sunroof equipped Linear.
Another car to check out (I did -- took a test drive last week) is the Subaru Legacy GT wagon. Will haul more than the Saab and is faster -- but with a terrific ride, precise steering instead of the Viggen's "plow it in the general direction you want to go" style, and AWD traction. Plus the interior is really a quantum leap forward for Subaru and on par with Honda quality stuff -- better than the 9-3SS, I might add. Gas mileage EPA is kind of sucky -- 19/25 -- but otherwise it looks like a wonderful car for the money.
