Thanks for breaking it all down to functions for me (mech novice).
Having read it, I think what I like about the most is the "synchronizers / shifting forks". (What are those, exactly?) Saabs have such an "easy" shifter-throwing feel/texture, and I really like that. In general, the shifting "distance" is OK without a short throw for me, because I'm no street-racer. I don't know if I can tell the 'effect' of clutch 'function' as much (maybe just the pedal feel/heaviness), per car, so that's OK, too.
