Hey, I don't mind how my Saab 9000 Aero shifts, but from a perfomance driving stand-point, the positive feedback and precise/notchy feel of every BMW I've driven is preferable to me (That's me though...and I realize that feel is subjective).
My dad's old '76 Porsche 911S had a good feel, but you had to be intentional about shifting it (which I don't see as a bad thing, because driving a car like that ought to be intentional.) The Subie Imreza WRX was impressive, but nothing spectacular.
Saabs get knocked by the motoring press frequently for their shift feel, but this is usually in comparison to other Euro sport sedans, and not Civics or Saturns.
I agree that you can shift a Saab quickly, but the play in the shift-linkage leaves a little to be desired.
Happy trails! Enjoy the fun that a car can lend you!
