I have an '03 9-5 Aero, an '00 Civic EX, and used to have a '92 Saturn SC. All 5 speed manuals. The Saab easily has the worst shifting quality. The Saturn was excellent, the Civic in the middle, and the Saab very so so. The Saturn moved from gear to gear so easily and with such a positive movement into each gear, a joy to drive. The Civic shifts very easily, but it's pretty "rubbery". The Saab is both harder to move from gear to gear and the rubbery-ist of them all.
Cars I've driven the Saab does beat? My mother in law's CR-V, the Bronco II I learned stick on, every stick shift pickup I've driven, an old Daytona Turbo, etc.
Don't get me wrong, the so-so shifter in the 9-5 still beats the crap out of the automatic!
