I have always taken issue with the Volkswagen/Audi ergonomics, specifically the placement of displays in the newer Volkswagens (but also the silly little buttons and the RIDICULOUS red & blue lighting). Teutonic design always sees fit to place HVAC vents as the highest item on the center dash -- what are they thinking? That's where the stereo display and other info should go. The further down you have to look, the more your eyes are off the road. Volvo does this too... in fact most manufacturers do it. Some Audis mend this by placing the display in the middle of the speedo cluster, which is fine I guess.
All that being said, I must admit, if there were no Saab I would drive a Volvo.
