"who loaded the vehicle nearer to the GVWR"..... Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: What to expect when meeting dealer rep?, steve, Thu, 26 Jan 2006 21:57:12 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I'm still unsure about the assumption that a passenger car, station wagon or otherwise, should meet certain performance specifications near the GVWR. That load compensation should somehow be a manufacturers obligation and that some arbitrary measure of performance should be maintained fully loaded. I fear you are asking for capitulation, that a Saab may not perform to a reasonable standard, your quite reasonable standard, as opposed to a solution.
There is a wide choice of vehicles that may suit your fully loaded application for continuous service much better. Sagging and overloaded 9-5's probably handle better and are safer to stop well, especially with ESP, than almost any vehicle and you haven't had any brake complaints. That wear is accelerated beyond your expectations is not the primary design criteria operating at GVWR.
I don't think a truck manufacturer would recommend you operate any of their vehicles, particularly the more light duty models, continuously at the vehicles GVWR. I would expect them to recommend some extra capacity to offset the continuous application, a more heavy duty vehicle than just the load capacity in otherwords.
I'm with Ian Glenday, "keep an even keel" with the service rep. I don't think that other peoples sagging Saabs with suspension problems has any bearing at all on what the service rep can do for you.
Good luck and I'm anxious to hear the solution.
