Your comparison to a story concerning original sin here is bizarre. If you know the story you'd know that the serpent didn't create the temptation. At the time of the incident the temptation was already created and after that the serpent had a little talk with Eve about it. So knowing that, who exactly plays which parts here in your comparison? Truly and accurately correlating your analysis of the situation would suggest that the creator of the tree is at fault, wouldn't it? If I sort of close one eye and squint with the other while I turn my head there is almost a point in what you wrote but you're just plain missing a major character (and point) for direct application here.

I'm not Jewish, and your second point intrigued me about the tents so I had to do a little research. Without going into it too much, to me it looks like the tents parable really speaks more to principles of modesty and privacy---and the fact there wasn't a curse (or attack as you wrote) was more a function of God's will. So again, what is the point in relating to locked car doors? Following the intent of that lesson would seem to lead towards advocating keeping your car, goods, lifestyle, etc. out of common view, right? Easy to agree with that. I just don't see any mention of securing belongings, which is really what we're talking about. Tucking a radar detector under the seat is in line with your example, locking the door is not. 0 for 2.

As for utopia, I'm not sure where you got the idea that's what I'm advocating? Of course everyone has the capacity to do wrong. I'm not debating that and I'm not sure why you think I am? What I'm telling you is much more societal in nature.

If the entire pack would finally decide that it's serious about stopping things like theft then the number of thefts would be reduced (notice I didn't write eliminated). But, if you just throw your hands in the air and say "well, it's human nature to sin" and continue watching the rates increase than you've made an excuse for the action and are in fact enabling it. When my grandparents were my age they never locked anything. They lived in a small city. What do you think is different? I'll give you a hint, it's not human nature that's changed in the last 50 years. Another hint, it's not biblical or nearly as grandiose as you apparently think either.
