A couple of comments on the previous post:
2. Only pre-2003 9-3s (pre-2004 for the 'vert) will have any DI concerns, the current version of the 9-3, the SS (Sport Sedan) and Sport Combi don't have a DI unit. For used, I would personally avoid a 2003 9-3, as that was a year one version of the car and tended to have more problems than more recent years (ex. 'vert). For the older 9-3s, make sure the regular maintenance was done, if possible get the engine checked for sludge.
For info on the 9-5, check that board.
5. You can run any fuel you want (within reason...), the engine will adjust, but I personally run premium since the performace (milage-wise) pretty much offsets the lower cost of the lesser octane fuel. Plus, it's more fun to use the engine to its full potential. I do about 90% around town driving in my '04 Aero 'vert and get a running average of about 20,
but I have taken a couple of road trips and got about 28 in pure HWY cruising (in upper 70s and lower 80s for speed - and I have an AUTO).
