but it's for a good cause, helping the american farmer.
I always ask when I have to take my car in for a repair to a dealer, why did this part fail ? So when the DI in my 1999 failed several years back, the dealer in denver explained that the rash of DI failures they were seeing resulted from the increased use of ethanol in gasoline.
So on a recent trip the throttle body on my wifes 2004 failed at 22k miles. I asked the service manager why did this break. He said throttle bodies "rarely fail" and only fail when the gas is from "cut rate stations" or "reservation gas" , because bad gas "wears the internal components" .
Reservation gas ? I was visiting Buffalo NY, and there is a Seneca Indian reservation there where the Indians can sell gas cheaper because they are exempt from Federal taxes I believe - so it not only cheaper but possibly laced with bad additives or watered down ,lol
What ever happened to blaming poor design or quality when stuff like a DI or throttle body fails ?
