This is good to hear guys. I don't push the Saabs. We live in Saab country and she passes Guilford Saab everyday on her way to work. In short, she's tired of seeing them. So far, I've only tried to emphasize her happiness and to sit in as many car options as possible. She says she wanted to like the RSX but thought it was a dog. (-with me and the fat salesman as passengers, it probably was) She's a "driver" and seemed to think the 3 was heads above the other options. I've learned that it comes very well appointed. F/R swaybars, F/R independent suspension, 17" rims, leather wheel/shifter, cruise/audio buttons on the wheel, 17" alloys, etc.
She signed on $5000 down + $225/mo at 4.9 over 72 months. They also gave her $950 for her 96 Jetta GL w/114K.
The new car is an 2007 5-dr/3Sport/5-spd/ which came to $17,200. She added the sunroof/6CD stereo package which brings it upt to just over $18K. Intellichoice shows $17,018 to be the target price so I guess she's getting a "fair" price. It really came down to negotiating the APR.
The problem now is that last night, she put a deposit down, signed the papers, left her Jetta there for the wholesaler. This morning, she was told that they can't get her the car!! They located her a specific car on Tuesday at another dealership, she signed for it on Wednesday, the dealership where the car was coming from, claims to have sold that car and now she's got neither the Jetta or the new 3!! She's affraid they are going to try to talk her into another color or a lesser car (no sunroof) if they can't find her what she signed for. Meanwhile, I've been shuttling her to work, etc.. IMHO, $18k is a lot of money to buy something you aren't psyched with. Why compromise. She would be extremely upset if she had to walk on the deal. My thought is that if nothing works out, perhaps they'll step her into the next trim level w/ DSP + a few more airbags which isn't a big jump..
Then again, perhaps not... Any thoughts?
