Have you ever looked at the brakes on a trailer? Take my boat trailer. 3,200 lbs total with a single axle. The brakes available, disk or drum, are MUCH smaller than any single brake setup on either 9-5 axle, yet you think they alone are going to stop a mass equal to the 9-5's weight. The car's brakes are an issue belive me. Not to mention the tire area on the ground. Even when towing with our Mountaineer, you know the trailer is back there, particularly when braking. Get on Trailer Boats' web site. They did a towing road test on a 9-7. Look at the difference in stopping distance with and without the trailer.
