1/3 in the crankcase, 1/3 in the gas tank, and 1/3 ingested into the engine via the vacuum hose mentioned in other posts.
It will probably kill the engine, but that is OK -- I think the instructions on the container say to let it sit for a period of time, and then start it up and fumigate the neighborhood.
If you are concerned about deposits, use Techron Concentrate -- 20 oz bottle. Two treatments in two tanks of gas, and your carbon will be history.
