This was in western Mass. Route 8A runs between Charlemont on Route 2 to Pittsfield (tiny towns). This accident was a few miles from Charlemont, headed south. That particular stretch is 11 miles long and has about 78 curves, bends, corners. I counted once when I had someone in front of me. It is very lightly traveled, often narrow, and really fun to drive. There are elevation changes in the middle of some curves and places where you really should go at or below the 30 mph limit. Only 4 pockets where there are houses. The biggest danger--other than overcooking a corner or someone else doing so, is coming around a bend to find a moose, deer, or bear in the road.
