This gal had a well padded jacket and good boots but was wearing jeans. Her legs seemed OK, but she was semi-conscious so it was hard for the EMT to get a read on what was working and what wasn't.
You'll be interested in knowing she was on a BMW R1100S (with 42K miles on it, and in nice shape). She'd put down about 30 feet of rubber in a straight line skid, right into the armco. I think the frame of the bike was broken. Front fork was vertical, handle bars in two pieces, gear pieces on the road, gas and oil leaking. Don't know how she didn't go over the bars and the rail.
It looks to me like it was sheer panic. The road turned hard right, but there was another road coming in on the left, and if she'd kept her cool she might have been able to use it as an escape route. I don't know... the line would have been a bit tricky. But I'd guess she was definitely motoring pretty fast when she realized she'd overcooked it and maybe never saw the way out.
