Funny... everything is always a "defect" in these cases... never the drivers fault!
I have owned a few Saabs of that era and know exactly what they are talking about and it is a GREAT feature. Saab 900 was one of the few front drive cars you could actually steer with the throttle. Once the car took a "set" in a turn u could point the front of the car into the apex by lifting off the throttle a bit (and adding a bit of opposite steering lock). If u wanted understeer you would actually press on the throttle and the front tires would add traction. VERY similar to the Porsche Carrera 4 I have been driving last 14 yrs but not quite as responsive!
I think the oversteer was very controllable and connected to rear axle design somehow. ANYWAY saying this was a defect is idiotic.
AND doors should always be locked no matter what the manual says.
Finally my family had 2 really bad accidents with Saabs from that era and were unhurt. AND the injury losses from that vehicle were among the lowest recorded.
CASE DISMISSED... 900 declared a very safe car
