Sounds like the Audi "unintended acceleration" debacle, fully attributed to driver error. And a driver who doesn't want to take responsibility for doing something dumb.
Sounds to me as if the driver of the Saab in question drove off the edge of the road, panicked, yanked the wheel the other way, probably had no idea what pedals they were pushing and went el rollo. Cars don't roll over all that easily, unless of course they were going fast enough, being partially sideways to be "tripped" by the edge of the pavement. But why do I think the person was going faster than the posted limit? NH tends to move at about 40-50 mph on two lane roads. There are not always very good shoulders either.
As for the doors, I doubt locks would have made a difference. I had an '84 C900 and there were no deadbolts. And FWIW, I don't lock my doors while driving, except in cities. If I remember, or the area looks sketchy. I hate it when the doors lock automatically.
Does the record show how the case turned out?
