I suspect that Koenigsegg intention is to do for Saab what VW did for Audi. i.e. reinvigorate the brand and re-establish Saabs as credible mid-luxury sport cars. If Volvo is the Swedish family oriented brand, then Saab can fill the sport-luxury part of the equation. I think Koenigseggs understands that there was a time (mid 80s to early 90s) when Saabs (particularly the 900 convertible) were the "it" car for Wall St. yuppies.
If Koenigseggs execute a winning strategy for reviving Saab, with its status for making exceptional sports cars, and its technical and design excellence, there is good reason to believe that a Koenigsegg-built Saab will cause bimmer-inclined buyers to add a Saab to their short list.
The idea of Saab car with well tuned suspension and styling that is uniquely Saab/Scandinavian and can't be confuse be Hyundais, makes me excited for the brand again. Can't wait....
