Dells tend to have a lot of proprietary, nonstandard parts, but some models are more proprietary than others. Even if a generic motherboard physically fits there may be nonstandard connectors to deal with. Dell's compact models are less likely to be repairable with standard parts. If you take the computer to your local computer shop they should be able to tell you for sure.
The other issue is that it may not be worth doing this kind of repair on a 4-year-old computer given the low cost of new hardware. You may need to replace CPU and memory as well if you can't find a new board that will work with the old components.
If repairability is a concern, when buying a desktop computer it's best to stick with a unit made from quality standardized parts at a reputable local shop.
