Apple does sell servers, Windows-only PCs coming Posted by JerseySaab [Email] (#666) [Profile/Gallery] (more from JerseySaab) on Mon, 3 Oct 2011 15:20:21 In Reply to: Re: Microshaft and viruses, Justin VanAbrahams [Profile/Gallery] , Mon, 3 Oct 2011 14:57:56 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I know of a business that has one. You don't see them too often, though, due to cost. If a business wants a Unix-type server it is much less expensive to deploy Linux or one of the BSDs using high-quality standard components.
On the other hand, our friends at Microsoft are hard at work pushing hardware manufacturers to make the next generation of PCs Windows-only systems. Such computers would refuse to load anything but Windows 8 by default, and it remains to be seen how simple or hard it will be to bypass UEFI "secure boot" on various hardware:

The days of being free to easily try out another operating system on your PC may be drawing to a close. Whether such an arrangement will bring any tangible security benefits to end-users also remains to be seen.
