Another point in the article was that it is based on the new Epsilon platform, which will also be used for the next Opel Vectra and Omega, eventually the next Saab 9-5, and within the next couple of months the first US models.
But then, we all expected that anyway.
There is also mention of the retention of the easy-grip door handles, the replacement of the effective headlamp wipers with cheaper, inferior high-pressure jets, and that the headlamps are in clear plastic.
Construction is due to start after the summer holiday 2002.
My comments:
What is not clear is what the picture is based on, apart from the original photo, which they have processed to remove anything which would allow the photographer to be traced.
It could be no more than the imagination of someone at the motoring magazine which supplied the picture.
(Having said that, I should add that I have no connection with Saab, I am not accusing anyone of falsification, nor am I suggesting that the picture is inaccurate or misleading - only that there is nothing to indicate its authenticity.)
Note that none of the claims about Saab are attributed to anyone, as would be normal in the more 'reputable' newspapers.
Also, according to the byline, it is over a month ago since this article was published.
