The ridiculousness of college admissions....

OK, so granted I live in Newton, MA and go to one of the top public high schools in the nation, but the college acceptance facts so far have been frightening. 5 applied to Dartmouth early (including myself) and 1 got in (not me). A kid with a perfect GPA who writes symphonies in his spare time was deferred at Harvard. 5 applied early to Yale, 3 got in (pretty good actually). Of the 4 guys in my senior class who have been accepted to Ivy League schools, 3 are gay and the other is like the best lacrosse player ever. One of three who applied to Middlebury was accepted, and she is a lesbian. One kid who takes no honors or AP classes (and only sometimes goes to the classes he does take) got into Penn because he is biracial and is on the diving team (btw Penn has NO diving team). Am I just not alternative enough to get into one of these schools? What ever happened to the days when academic merit mattered, and not sexual orientation and whether or not you are president of the underwater basket weaving club. Maybe I should go start writing my essay explaining how being a bisexual skateboarding eskimo has changed my life and would really enrich the university...
P.S.- In case you can't tell, I am extremely bitter.
