Im not sure if I agree about it being a sign of diverging tastes, as I hardly ever see them on the road here either. This magazines review of the Saab products was quite positive, and I agree with them that the 185 and 205 hp motors for the 9.3 are too much power. I tried the 154 hp in Italy and it seemed more than adequate and didnt outdo its suspension....
