I think your post is very close to the truth, Dinger, but I see the 9-5 a little diferently. It still has plenty of SAABness in it. After owning a 99, 9000T and a NG 900, which was a real horror story, I don't feel lost in a lpt 9-5. So much so that the 9-5 is stll refered to as quirky and all, and is no serious threat to it's class, although some auto journalist are finaly recognising it's inherent value. The challenge for GM is indeed to keep the identity of the car to please it's actual AND loyal owners,I think your post is pretty close to the truth, Dinger, but I see the 9-5 a little differently. The challenge for GM is indeed to keep the identity of the car and thus please its actual AND loyal owners, and attract new potential buyers who won't put up with to much «quirkiness». Possibly a catch 22 but not necessarily. I know a few people, and there are plenty other examples on the 9-5 BB, that switched to the 9-5, coming from pretty prestigious and successful brands, and are absolutely delighted. The Aero is of course an Ace for attracting performance enthusiasts. Had it AWD, I know a few people who would have considered it seriously. and attract new potential buyers who won't put up with to much «quirkiness».
