"heavier and by definition less fuel efficient"? Are you heavier always means less fuel efficient? A 360 Mondena weighs only 3064lbs, since your Aero is certainly heavier than that, does than mean you are getting less than 11-16mpg, which is the rating for Mondena.

A comparison between anecdotal examples by different drivers (unless you are claiming to be the tester for that said magazine) under different driving circumstances means absolutely zilch. I'd much prefer trusting EPA systematic tests, warts and all. There are plenty large displacement cars that can get fantastic gas mileage so long as you are loafing along on high ways; conversely, plenty variable-cam small displacement engines can suck gas like nuts when they are constantly operating in the power band. Gearing has a lot to do fuel economy on highways.
