Rob, there is no pat answer, dying is an extremely personal event. The advice to read up on E. Kubler-Ross is excellent, she has written the most well respected work on dying.
I have been a hospice volunteer, and find often people want to share exeriences, and pass on advice in their last weeks and months. It can be time of introspection and sharing, and can help you evaluate things for yourself as well. Several hospice patients have told me things you expect, such as spend more time with the people you love rather than in your office, and sometimes they share things more sublime, that had great meaning to them.
Any time you can spend, even by phone, e-mail, or letters would probably be very meaningful to her, and I expect would be meaningful to you now or in retrospect.
I am very sorry to hear you are dealing with this, it is never easy. Take care, and good luck. Erik
