Dell or XP? I purchase many Dells for our company and have had good luck with them. We have spent everywhere from $500 to $50,000 on Dell systems. In fact the laptop I use to access all my favorite websites is a Dell. I think Dell makes a good product. From reading your letter it seems to be mostly an XP problem. We bought one (yes one) Dell laptop with XP loaded -- nothing but problems -- many system hangs -- nothing to do with the HD. All of our systems now come with Windows 2000. Stay away from XP! Its no wonder they won't install it for you. Dell should really be pissed at Microsoft for releasing such a half-ass product such as XP as it can hurt Dell's reputation. On the other hand Dell shouldn't load the half-ass software on their PCs to begin with.
Go Linux!
