hard disk crashed, dell (kindly) sent a tech with a new hard disk, told me i had to reinstall software.
computer never the same since...com port simply doesn't work, the CDROM'S purporting to contain drivers is a joke, there's about 2 drivers on there, one of which works. Windows is stripped to the bone, I don't have my resource meter, cpu usage meter and a bunch of other stuff. THe antivirus software won't install (it goes to 99% and stops cold in the setup.exe). The list goes on and on, trust me.
I'm going to have to get on the phone with them, but I think that's useless unless i can figure out exactly what's up, which will have to be done before my warranty expires ;-)
agree with the poster who said they bought a dell years ago and it was wonderful, same thing happened to me (which is how I ended up with this $2,500 nightmare) First thing I said when I got my current box "wow, their build quality has gone down eh"...i was half right.
