here is my 2 cents anyway (the thread on the 9-5 board was too hot for me)...
1) 100% make it an option - I paid for this stupid useless feature twice - one saab, one chevy -- I know would really be mad if I actually knew how much extra they built into the price for this feature -- others car makers offer the feature at $800!
2) If I have to pay for it make hands free calling using MY cell phone cheap and easy. I wanted the handsfree kit for my 9-5 and it was $400! With the onstar hardware that I paid for (and never use) this price is unacceptable. I do realize from a business perspective that Onstar is not going to do this one -- their goal is to get me to use their calling features and have yet another phone number.....
3) A package that has safe and sound, plus the lockout and lojack type features. Make it cheap or equal to the insurance discount I can get for having onstar.
If the insurance companies will lower my insurance because I subscribe to Onstar I would give it a second chance. Right now they don't (or at least Allstate doesn't).
Thats about it. I have had my 2002 aero since June and I still haven't activated the stupid thing.
Overall I love my Saab, but Onstar can go you know where....
