I drove my brother in laws '01 Jetta 1.8T Wolfsburg a week or so ago and was really impressed with it. There was no vibration at idle, unlike my SET, and it pulled really hard, even from below 2000 rpm, unlike my SET. I was impressed with the overall sophistication of the car as a whole, and if not for the fact that it was a little to cozy inside for me, I'd be tempted to upgrade and replace my Saab with one.
Let me explain, my SET has always had "holes" in the acceleration, where the car feels like it's stumbling for a few seconds, and the seats shake a little bit at idle as if it were a V6, similar to my old SHO. The Jetta 1.8T had none of these issues. On top of that, the WOlfsburg edition has great sport seats that do a good job of support one in the twisties, whereas the SET's seats are flat as boards.
Drive one, see what you think.
