I bought my '89 with 80k on it, and drove it to either 112k or 117k - I don't remember. When I sold it, it had no clutch problems whatsoever - it never slipped or complained. I later ran into the kid I sold it to and he had cooked the clutch in less than 5k. He tried to imply that I'd sold him a car with a dead clutch (he wasn't mad or anything about it) but considering I saw him at the local drag strip I'm pretty sure he cooked it. He did brag on about a 14.9s run tho. :) So, let's call it about 120k...

I never had any real problems with mine... At some point the starter +12v wire separated from its terminal at the battery, but that was an easy fix. The interior was garbage, but the mechanical stuff was never a worry. I was ready to plunk down $4k for a SHOShop Gen II upgrade but ended up selling the car for some reason - it may have been to buy my '90 SPG. I tried again to buy one a couple years back, but they were all either trashed or had impossibly high mileage on them. That's what lead me to the Contour SVT and eventually my 164Q. There is currently a '91-ish SHO, white with 16" slicers on it for sale that's been sitting in a parking lot for a month. I'm seriously tempted to go take a closer look, but to this day I still feel the pain of the $800 timing belt/water pump/valve job. I've *never* had such an expensive repair on any Saab I've owned!

Turbo 4s and 3.0l 6s are all I've owned! :)
