We have a 1999 Trooper and we love it. My sister just purchased a 2003 Land Rover Discovery and I am NOT impressed. yes, the leather is great and seating position is great. Seats do not go far back enough. Doors feel like the first Trooper made in the 80's. Very large turning radius. I expected more out of the $40K truck and I would run to your nearest Isuzu dealer and look for a leftover 2002 Trooper. Its the last year they are made. Down the cape in Bourne they have a good selection. My second choice would be the one you are currently driving. I know you were looking for something smaller. I have not been in the New Land Rover small SUV (dont know the name) and assume its in better shape than the Discovery as its all new.
good Luck
