Asthetic value..... Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Past and future, JEM, Sat, 9 Apr 2005 14:47:47 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Asthetic value is the turnoff for me and a CTS. The doors clang when you slam 'em and the interior is a nightmare of shapes, textures and functions, footbrake and the traditional cheap GM ignition lock are two I can think of. The intruments have a fake chrome trim around them to dress them up this year 'cause the were soooo boring previously, and it screams FAKE CHROME. New edge styling is an acquired taste that I haven't acquired, it is distinctive in a sea of blobs.
I think M5 and M3 owners might take umbrage to your preference to the V, I know which one I'd like to drive. R&T is still on the fence about the crappy V shift linkage making the whole car unworthy. Yea I know "for the money", but that's obviously not what it's about for BMW folks and Saab folks for that matter.
GM has always made a s---pot of money cramming the big motor into a family sedan and that hasn't changed.
I don't think a base CTS is anywhere near as fun as a 9-5. A CTS doesn't have a way to shift the auto manually for example. The base Arc has more equipment, more torque where you need it, and there's that asthetic thing again, ever see a faux roof on a CTS?
