2006 750Li, about $85k, in the BMW shorwoom today. Magnificent car with a totally absurd amount of goodies and complications:
I-Drive for the front and rear seat passengers, there's a rear DVD screen with a 6 disc changer in the trunk for watching movies. You can also access all the navigation, climate control, menus etc. with the rear seat I-Drive knob and view the nav from the back seat DVD screen.
The front seats articulate a jillion ways with heating and cooling-vented front sport seats. The holes are much smaller than Saab and I couldn't hear the seat fan like in my 9-5.
Electric sun shades for the back, rear window, side windows and the little triangular rear quarter windows, 5 in all, all electrically servo operated.
No reclining for the rear seats that I could find.
Single CD slot in the middle AND a seperate door on the dash for a 6 disc cartridge. HVAC controls have reverted to two knobs for each side for temp and fan, outside of the I-Drive
It was parked in the showroom and I was in and out of the back and front wondering why all the electronics were fired up and the car wasn't running, but then Mickey pointed out the tach and it was running! Whoa, super silent and smooth.
Every door, compartment, knob, control, you name it, has a solid quality of contruction, finish and fit thats extraordinary. Every thing is damped, everything is finished. Two drawers in the dash for misc. stuff, compartments in the center console, ashtray, glovebox, glorious excess. It screams expensive.
No soft touch doors, soft touch trunk is standard, but the guy didn't order the soft touch doors that close themselves gently with a subtle light touch. BTW power trunk.
And then there's just the normal 7 stuff like the throttleless ValveTronic V8 that was so smooth and quite I couldn't tell it was running and the split rollbar feature that levels the car for cornering.
Makes a 9-3SS seem simple......
