I was in Austin last month and received a similar vehicle from Enterprise. I believe it was also an LX but was equipped with the V6 engine. It was a decently quick car. I think it’s the same engine in the Hyundai Sonata which I’ve also rented (preferred it to the Optima). With the Optima I felt every seam in the road from Austin to San Antonio. Had a fair amount of road noise as well, a bit “buzzy.” The car actually felt more solid at 80-90MPH than at 35MPH. Very squirrelly under 50MPH.
While many don’t want to admit it … the Koreans have their s*it together and are approaching the Japanese automakers very quickly. No, they’ll never make a SAAB or BMW or Mercedes clone, but that’s not what they’re after in the marketplace.
