I think the mid-1980s 944 turbo is one of the best performance bargains you can find. They are wonderful track cars, great balance, easy to drive. They are also very affordable.
In reference to Mike's comments - I'd love to find a 993 that I could use in this capacity, but they are 3 times more expensive than a good 944 turbo.
