Basically, the more advanced your timing is (initial and on-boost) without detonation, the faster the car will be. Depending on the supporting mods your car has, you may be able to advance it up to five or six degrees. Normally, people bend the stop in the retard diafragm to keep the on-boost timing the same as stock, but if you have good fueling and intercooling, you can run timing more advanced there too.
If your SPG is stock, I'd suggest remving the diafragm ( the silver canister-looking thing on the dist.) and bending the small piece of metal the limits the travel of the arm going into the diafragm down slightly to allow for more retard under boost. Now that you've done this, you can advance initial timing with a timing light until the on-boost timing is the same as stock ~10 degrees. Best way to check that is with a boost/vacuum pump and a timing light.
