Then you should be able to jack up one corner of the car, front probably if the steering wheel is shaking, and if it's loose the wheel should jiggle and not be snug against the hub. It would probably be pretty obvious.
If this was the case, I tend to think the tire guys would have noticed and said something, as that would be really obvious, and very dangerous.
