With a bigger turbo, you are trying to target higher boost pressure, i.e. more CFM of air flow. This requires more fuel. If the ecu is only mapped to see, say, 20 psi max and you are pumping out 30 psi of boost, then it's off the scale. I imagine the injector pulses will be maxed out. However, say you have the stock injectors. It can't flow enough fuel to satisfy the fuel requirements so you run lean. So you need to reprogram the ecu and get bigger injectors to handle the increased air flow. I would also expect that a turbo producing over 2.5 bar of pressure needs a higher range MAP sensor. From what I understand, a stage 4 ecu will target up to 22 psi of boost which is at the maximum range of the stock MAP sensor. Don't forget, the ECU doesn't control fuel using the o2 sensor at full throttle and must rely on fuel maps. And as Jak pointed out, the adaptation of the T5 only goes so far. And also remember, more boost equals MORE heat, out of the IC. I think there are other ways to get more power without getting a bigger turbo. Minimizing restrictions in the intake, exhaust, IC, head. Higher lift cams? Shedding weight goes a long way to.

- at the same boost pressure you move more air, jak
