I would also guess that you would have a lot more lag due to the greater rotating mass of the larger turbo's components. I don't know how sophisticated the standard knock detection software is, but I agree with Barry that you'd probably run into a problem of leaning out.
The bottom line is that there's probably no point in upgrading your turbo unless you are going to upgrade the other components. One of the tuners would know better, of course!
