it blows the ground driver for the fuel pump relay & many times Ive run a CIS FP relay (which takes a little re wiring) but get the job done or as a hack repair the fuel pump can be wired on keyed hot (not the best idea)but I personally havent seen much on the 89 aside from that although others more expierenced in those years (older techs) may know better
some thought the pre updated fuel & main relays were blowing the transistors from inductive kickback
